IN THE FIELD
Although it's great to share the photos that I take of wildlife and landscapes on my trips, it's just as important to show some of the "behind the scenes" shots taken during the trip. Without the supporting cast, the photos that I share would not always be possible.
Before we embarked for The Galápagos, we met with our good friend Eddie to take us on a tour of the Chulute Mangrove Ecological Preserve. On the way, we stopped at one of his favorite markets to grab some fresh fruit.
Our tour of the River Guayas was amazing. During our trip, we had the opportunity to see some crocodiles, various species of birds, and some beautiful scenery of from the river.
We cruised along the River Guayas and witnessed a variety of wildlife that calls the riverbanks their home.
Although some of our trips are not luxurious, the sailing up The Nile was definitely a different experience. We spent many nights on this deck enjoying the night scenery and the daily life along The Nile.
Taking some time out to enjoy dinner, the head chef and his staff allowed me to turn a few steaks on the outdoor grill.
Chef Ahmed and his staff prepared many great Egyptian local dishes for us during our sailing up The Nile. He and I shared some recipes and stories along the way. Thank you Chef! You were amazing and so was our trip.
The best way to learn about a culture is through the food. Egyptian cuisine is a flavorful mix of North Africa, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern influence.
The Nile can be a "bit buggy"... although we lucked out most days and nights. The placement of every detail on our home during our trip up The Nile, the Sanctuary II, was perfect.
Before our journey up The Nile, Alley and I visited the Great Pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx.
Selfie at Abu SimbelFrom childhood, I was always fascinated of the Ancient Egyptian culture. I guess I was a strange kid. The Temple at Abu Simbel was always a favorite, and having the opportunity to see this grand temple in person and walk its grounds was an absolute dream come true. | King Ramses IIInside the Temple of Abu Simbel was a beautiful and stunning display of ancient art that has stood the sands of time. King Ramses II built and dedicated this temple to himself. | Silhouette of An AdventurerTouring the Great Pyramids of Giza both outside and inside was an amazing experience. Many times I could hear the theme song from the Indiana Jones movies playing through my head. Alley caught this great shot of me standing in the archway of one of the pyramids. The sunlight shining through the doorway where I stood made for a perfect silhouette pic. |

Caught Alley dozing off on the deck of the Sanctuary II during our voyage up The Nile.
Kyle, Alley's son, enjoyed this trip to Egypt as much as we did. It's always a joy to share our experiences with our loved ones.
Alley and Kyle chat with our guide during our stay in Cairo at the market near the Great Pyramids of Giza.
Taking a stroll down the boardwalk at one of the many preserves in Florida that we visit to photograph the beauty of nature.
I dubbed this very tame cormorant "Old Blue Eyes." This photo was taken moments after I shot my signature pic that represents Bird's Eye Gallery.
When we see a cannon, Alley MUST get a pic with it. This cannon is one of the many cannons found at Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.
What a perfect shot of Alley in the tub surrounded by rubber duckies in Andorra.
Andorra is a small country situated between the borders of Spain and France. We were pleasantly surprised at the beauty this country provided... and we will definitely find our way back there.
We always find the time to find some "silly" pics. This selfie with Albert The Bull in Audubon, Iowa was one of those moments.
Hidden GemIt's true... Alley is a hidden gem. However, the catacombs beneath the pyramids of Egypt are also hidden gems. One can only imagine how the Ancient Egyptians managed to build, move, carve, and set up such wonders below and above ground is truly amazing. | At Temple KarnakKarnak was our FIRST stop during our Nile cruise. I could've spent countless hours wandering around these temples. | Valley of The QueensValley of The Queens and Valley of The Kings were two sites that everyone must see when visiting Egypt. King Tut's tomb and the numerous tombs of pharaohs past and their queens were beautiful sites to behold. |
